March 30, 2023

Ellipal Titan wallet is one of the most secure and air-gapped cryptocurrency hardware wallets that protect your assets from physical attack and keep them safe from the outside world. Regular firmware updates are essential to keep the wallet updated with the latest security features and newly supported currencies.

In this guide, we'll provide a step-by-step guide on how to update your Ellipal Titan firmware to ensure your crypto assets are always secure.

What You Need Before Updating

Check the current firmware version on your Ellipal. You can get do that by selecting settings > about > check version.

If your device needs an upgrade, proceed with the process. It's important to have everything you need in hand:

  • The latest Ellipal firmware file
  • Your Ellipal Titan wallet
  • Adapter
  • Micro SD

You should also follow these safety precautions:

  • Ensure your Ellipal Titan has enough battery life to complete the update process.
  • Do not use a non-official firmware file. Only use firmware files from the official Ellipal website.
  • The SD card must be formatted to FAT32 (Allocation unit size to 32kb), emptied, and with only one update file.
  • Make sure the Titan device is being charged during updating.

Step 1: Download the Latest Firmware

The first thing you do when updating your Ellipal firmware is download the latest ZIP file.

You can find the latest firmware file on the official Ellipal website. Download the current ZIP archive, and copy it to the Ellipal SD-Card.

Do not change the name of the file or unzip it.

Step 2: Connect the Adapter to Ellipal Titan

Once your firmware file is downloaded, you are ready for the next steps.

Turn off the ELLIPAL Titan.

Insert the Ellipal SD-Card with the new firmware into the adapter, and plug the USB cable (Ellipal recommends using a regular power socket as a power source, not a laptop).

Connect Ellipal Titan to the adapter.

After the charging sign is back on, turn the Ellipal on again.

Step 3: Install the New Firmware

After the extraction process, you can start the update, which should take at most 5 minutes.

Turn the Ellipal Titan on again, go to settings, and select the update. The files will be extracted automatically. This can take up to 20mins, so wait and don't disconnect the adapter.

After extraction, you will see a new menu where you can select "Start Update."

Start the update. It should take about 5 mins.

It's completely normal if the device looks like it's turning off and on during the process. You shouldn't worry about it or change anything,

Step 4: Verify the Update

Once the update process has been completed, verify that the firmware has been successfully updated by going to the settings menu on your Ellipal Titan and checking the firmware version number. If the number matches the firmware version you installed, the update succeeded.
